Reputation and Errands

Reputation is a measure of how the people of Areldor perceive your hero. It reflects the hero's actions and affects how residents, merchants, guards, and other characters interact with them.

reputation

Every new hero starts with 0 reputation. Reputation can range from -100 to +100 and can never exceed these limits.

  • Positive reputation means that the hero is trusted and respected by the people of Areldor.
  • Negative reputation means that the hero has a bad reputation and may cause suspicion or fear.
Errands and Reputation

Various errands, requests, and opportunities to earn rewards regularly appear throughout Areldor. You can check available errands on the Errands.

errands

Errands can be offered by:

  • Local residents
  • Merchants and craftsmen
  • Workers and representatives of various professions
  • Bandits and criminals
  • Government representatives
  • Other organizations and residents of Areldor

Not every errand affects reputation in the same way. Some errands involve helping people, acting honestly, and doing good deeds. Others may require deception, harming someone, or taking advantage of another person's weakness. This gives the player a meaningful choice: follow an honorable path and earn the trust of the people, or accept more profitable but questionable errands and gradually lose reputation.

Each day, a hero has access to 14 different errands.

Reputation Changes

Every errand can change the hero's reputation depending on the chosen way of completing it.

  • +1 to +4 reputation for kind, honest, and helpful errands.
  • -1 to -7 reputation for crimes, deception, betrayal, and other questionable actions.

Reputation is always limited to the range of -100 to +100.

How Reputation Affects the World
reputation event

Reputation is not simply a number displayed in the hero's profile. It directly affects how the world of Areldor reacts to the player. The higher the hero's reputation, the more trust they receive from the people of Areldor. A well-known and respected hero can interact more easily with peaceful residents and representatives of the government. The lower the reputation, the worse the attitude of other characters becomes.

Travel

Reputation affects the safety of traveling across the map. Heroes with high or neutral reputation can travel between regions freely without attracting unnecessary attention. Heroes with bad reputation are viewed with greater suspicion and may encounter unpleasant events while traveling.

  • Guards may attempt to stop or detain the hero.
  • Residents may attack the hero.
  • Residents may give up goods or gold out of fear.

The lower the reputation, the higher the chance of encountering such events.

Trading

Reputation also affects prices offered by merchants. Positive reputation allows the hero to receive more favorable treatment and normal prices or small discounts. Negative reputation makes merchants distrust the hero.

  • Prices may become higher.
  • Some merchants may refuse to sell certain goods.
Two Paths of the Hero

The reputation system allows players to gradually shape their own reputation in the world of Areldor. You can become a respected hero by helping people, completing honest errands, and maintaining order. Alternatively, you can choose the path of a criminal and adventurer who gains greater rewards from questionable and dangerous decisions, but gradually loses the trust of others.

Events with Negative Reputation

Heroes with negative reputation may encounter special events while traveling through Areldor.

  • Higher shop prices. The lower the hero's reputation, the higher the prices in shops. The markup can reach 200%.
  • Encounter with guards. A hero with low reputation may try to escape, bribe the guards, or fight them.
  • Encounter with residents. A hero with low reputation may intimidate residents, offer them drinks, or give them a random crafting material from their inventory.

During an encounter with guards, the hero can choose between different approaches:

  • Escape without changing reputation.
  • Bribe the guards at the cost of -1 reputation.
  • Fight the guards at the cost of -1 reputation.

If the hero wins the fight, they receive everything the guards were carrying. If the hero loses, the guards take 35% of the hero's gold. If the hero fails to escape, the required bribe is doubled. When dealing with residents, the amount of crafting material that must be given increases as the hero's reputation becomes lower.

Events with Positive Reputation

Heroes with positive reputation can encounter events that provide additional benefits.

  • Lower shop prices. The higher the hero's reputation, the lower the prices in shops. The discount can reach 20%.
  • Help from residents. Friendly residents may share interesting stories or offer assistance, including +3 energy.
  • Government reward. Heroes with high reputation may occasionally receive a reward from the government.
Events with Any Reputation

Some events can occur regardless of the hero's current reputation.

  • Treasure. The hero may discover a treasure and choose whether to inspect it or walk past. Inspecting the treasure may result in finding gold, training tokens, or encountering an unpleasant surprise.
Additional Information

Reputation changes are determined by the hero's choices during errands and random events. The reputation system is designed to make the player's decisions have consequences throughout Areldor.
